How to Make Holiday Travel Less Stressful

Kia Sorento - Memphis, TN
Stay safe on the roads if you’re traveling this holiday season!

If you are heading over the river and through the woods to Grandma’s house this holiday season, it’s probably best to be prepared. The holiday season is one of the most stressful times to travel with busy roads, bustling airports, and winter weather causing unexpected delays. To make the holidays more enjoyable, here are some tips on how to make holiday travel less stressful.

Travel on the holiday. On the actual holiday, flights and crowds are significantly less than on the days surrounding it. Book your flight or head off in your car on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day to make the experience less stressful. If you want to spend more time with the family, then leave early in the morning on the day for more time together.

Fly direct. When you have a layover, the chances of delays, cancellations, and lost luggage are higher than if you book a direct flight. Even if a connection saves you money, the extra cash you will spend on a non-stop flight will give you more peace of mind, making traveling significantly less stressful.

Plan ahead. Before you head out, especially if you’re driving, it’s important to think about any possible obstacles you might come in contact with. Check the weather, ship any extra gifts that won’t fit in your luggage, and plan your route out to make sure you get to your destination on time and stress-free.
