Fill out your tree

If you just couldn’t find that perfect tree this year, you’re in luck. All you need is some green tinsel to turn a sad-looking evergreen into the perfectly shaped Christmas tree you hoped for. If you match the tinsel to the color of the tree just right, no one will even know you’re cheating.

Christmas hanger lights

This year, save yourself a headache and wind your Christmas lights around old clothes hangers after you’re done with them. It makes putting your decorations away a breeze and is even more useful when you’re unloading them next year.

Turn cookies into ornaments

If you accidentally made too many cookies, or if some of them came out a bit too burnt, there’s no need to throw them away. If you apply a coat or two of varnish to them, you’ll have easy-to-make Christmas ornaments that will last for years.

Christmas is all about coming together with family and friends to celebrate what matters most in life, not stressing and fretting over decorating your home. Save yourself some hassle this year with these great Christmas hacks.

New Kia Stinger at the 2017 SEMA Show

The 2018 Kia Stinger is rolling off the line and bears a resemblance to high-end sports cars well above its price point. As it turns out, aggressive styling isn’t enough for the 2017 SEMA Show. That’s why the new Kia Stinger featured a unique look, just for the audience at Las Vegas.New Kia Stinger

Kia and West Coast Customs teamed up to create a unique Stinger sports car that no attendee could ignore. The all-new fastback sedan boasted numerous enhancements on top of its already aggressive styling.

For starters, the SEMA Stinger GT rolled out on a lower front and rear suspension. A gloss black front grille and 21-inch forged wheels add a touch of athleticism unmatched by most performance cars, while widebody fender flares, a carbon fiber aero kit, and rear diffuser create the track-ready look that enthusiasts love. To top it all off, squared-off quad exhaust tips add the intimidation factor.

The interior featured quite a few performance-driven upgrades as well. That’s on top of the premium interior which already features standard leather upholstery.

The modified Kia Stinger GT debuted alongside two other customized Kia models on Tuesday, October 31st.

We here at Gossett Kia South can’t help but be amazed at the custom Stinger sports car!

Winter Car Care Tips

Fall is in full swing and winter is quickly approaching. Now is the time to properly prepare your vehicle for the colder weather. While Memphis doesn’t see the harshest winter weather, it still pays to be prepared. Here are some helpful winter car care tips to get you started from us here at Gossett Kia South.

Emergency Kit
Creating an emergency kit is the first step to being prepared for when winter conditions strike. A dead battery, loss of traction, or simply getting caught in the snow likely means you’ll be waiting for help to arrive.
In order to stay comfortable and pass the time, prepare an emergency kit that includes warm clothes and blankets, a flashlight with extra batteries, and nonperishable foods. Including cat litter or sand for traction to escape slippery conditions certainly wouldn’t hurt, either.

Tires
As the temperatures drop, so will your vehicle’s tire pressure. Check to make sure your vehicle’s tires are properly inflated on a weekly basis to maximize traction on the road. Don’t forget to check the tread levels before winter arrives in full force! Tires with low tread should be replaced prior to winter for your own safety.

Winter Car Care Tips
Coolant
Keeping your engine up and running all year long means maintaining your coolant. Coolant is responsible for keeping the engine cool in summer and prevent it from freezing in winter. Have your vehicle inspected to ensure the coolant is suitable to weather this coming winter season.

Kia Sportage Is the 2017 Ideal Vehicle Award Winner for Compact Crossover SUVs

This just in: another win for the Kia Sportage. The all-new 2017 Kia Sportage has just earned the coveted title of the 2017 Ideal Vehicle Award winner in the compact crossover segment, courtesy of AutoPacific. This actually marks the second AutoPacific award that the 2017 Sportage has earned this year. Earlier in the summer, the Sportage also received a Vehicle Satisfaction Award.

2017 Ideal Vehicle Award

To determine ideal vehicles in each segment, AutoPacific surveyed more than 54,000 drivers who purchased a new 2016 or 2017 model. After 90 days of ownership, these drivers provide feedback on how they like their vehicles and what they would change. The survey covers 15 specific categories, which include interior storage, power and acceleration, technology, ride and handling, and safety features.

Orth Hedrick, vice president of product planning for Kia Motors America, stated, “We’re honored to hear that the Sportage has earned AutoPacific’s Ideal Vehicle Award and that we are succeeding in our mission to provide our customers with world-class products. The fourth-generation Sportage is the best iteration of our esteemed nameplate, now with a stellar combination of sharp design, clever utility and advanced safety features.”

Kia Tops J.D. Power List of Highest Quality Brands

2017 KIA Lineup

J.D. Power is known far and wide, especially in the auto industry, for ranking brands based on the quality of their products. Recently, when J.D. Power released its list of highest quality brands around the world, the number one spot wasn’t occupied by some prohibitively-priced luxo-marque. Instead, the list was headed by Kia. Beating out fellow Korean brands Hyundai and Genesis, Kia was crowned king of the industry when it comes to quality.

This isn’t the first time this has happened. In fact, 2017 is actually the second year in a row that the Korean auto brand, known for their cute and cheerful cars like the Kia Soul, has claimed the winning spot on the list. Another big surprise was Toyota’s fall; sitting in spot #13, the once-winning brand for 15 years straight has toppled from its throne.

The quality of vehicles in the study was determined by how many problems per year were reported by participants in the study. If you want to see what put Kia at the top of the list of highest quality brands from J.D. Power, head over to us here at Gossett Kia South to test them out in person.

Kia Soul Hamsters Get a New Addition

Kia Soul hamsters

You might remember the Kia Soul hamsters — a collection of fuzzy, cute mascots dedicated to representing the Soul’s quirky, fun-loving image. Now, however, with the unveiling of the Kia Soul Turbo, the Kia hamster family has a brand-new bundle of joy. Revealed in a new commercial for the model, little Turbo is faster and wilier than the rest, speaking to the Kia Soul Turbo’s more athletic build and need for speed.

The commercial opens with a nurse tending to newborn babies in the maternity ward. As she makes the round, she notices one crib is empty – Turbo’s. As she looks around, the nurse realizes Turbo has escaped and is speeding through the hospital hallways to freedom. What ensues is a long chase scene in which Turbo continually outwits and outruns the hospital staff, eventually leaping off the roof and falling right through his family’s sunroof, into their car. They drive off in – what else? – a 2017 Kia Soul Turbo

Turbo’s quick getaway is representative of his automobile namesake’s penchant for smooth steering and handling and athletic performance, despite being the “baby” of the Kia Soul hamsters. Want to know more about the new 2017 Kia Soul Turbo? Come out to Gossett Kia South and we can introduce you to the new model.

Kia Soul is the Best Family Car

When you’re trying to buy a new car, it’s hard to know where to start. One great resource is to use trusted lists by sources like Car and Driver or Edmunds to find vehicles that are built to fit your needs. For a decade now, Edmunds has paired with Parents magazine to compose one such list: Best Family Car. And guess who earned an award for “Best Family Cars of 2017?” Why, none other than the Kia Soul, one of our favorite, versatile SUVs.

Kia Soul best family car

But what do Edmunds and Parents magazine use to determine the best family car? According to Parents Editor-in-Chief Liz Vaccariello, the best family car is one that caters to both parents and children in things like safety and comfort. The Kia Soul has both of these things covered, and much more.

The vehicle’s spacious cabin is made even more comfortable knowing that safety features like the standard Hill Start Assist and the available Lane Departure Warning are present to help drivers stay in control and to keep families protected. The Kia Soul is also well-equipped for in-cabin entertainment, an important amenity to have for family trips of any length. The 2017 Kia Soul features things like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Steering-Wheel-Mounted Controls which make the inevitable multitasking easier.

With a very affordable price tag and an engine that sips gas, the Kia Soul is also family-friendly from a financial standpoint. We’re happy to have our own inventory of Kia Soul SUVs on the lot at Gossett Kia South, so if you’re looking for the best car for your family, stop in and give the Kia Soul a try today.

Kia’s “A Good Vibe” Commercial Goes Viral

When you turn on this spring’s two-and-a-half minute ad spot for the Kia brand, the first thing you’ll hear is “I don’t wanna go.” It’s the catchphrase and title of a catchy, charming song by artists Kate Kim and Lee Radde. You’re practically guaranteed to get the tune stuck in your head, but you’re liable to sound conflicted. You’re singing “I don’t want to go,” yet all you do want to do is go and drive one of the recently redesigned Kia Rio and Kia Picanto that are advertised in the commercial.

The upbeat and memorable Kia commercial follows around Kate Kim and Lee Radde as they each climb into their own Kia vehicles. The all-new Kia Picanto—a super efficient, five-door hatchback—and the compact Kia Rio sedan both prove to serve as the perfect city cars for the musical artists. The “good vibe” association seems to promise that only the best journeys can be had in these updated Kia vehicles. Meanwhile, the fun, split-screen video and the perfect pop song have kept viewers wanting more, making this Kia commercial a viral hit.

If you do want to go in the Kia Rio or Kia Picanto, don’t worry—we have plenty on the lot at Gossett Kia, and we won’t mind if you sing “I Don’t Want to Go” by Kate Kim and Lee Radde while you shop.
