Kia Tops J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

For four years in a row now, Kia has topped the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study as the best non-premium brand in the auto industry. This streak was extended in the 2018 IQS, in which Kia scored an average 72 problems per 100 vehicles over the first 90 days of ownership, proving once again the brand’s reliability and commitment to quality.

“Ranking No. 1 among all mass market brands for four consecutive years leaves no doubt as to the world-class quality and craftsmanship instilled in every car and SUV that Kia builds,” said Michael Cole, chief operating officer, and EVP, Kia Motors America. “With two segment winners and four additional models finishing in the top three of their respective segments, the evidence of Kia’s progression and focus on the ownership experience is overwhelming.”

In addition to another year atop the IQS for the brand as a whole, the Kia Sorento and Kia Rio topped their respective segments in terms of initial quality., The Kia Optima, Kia Sportage, and Kia Sedona all ranked second in their segments, and the Kia Forte ranked third, confirming Kia’s powerhouse standing.

2018 Kia Stinger Named to Autotrader’s 10 Best Interiors List

The 2018 Kia Stinger has been a smashing success in its short life, earning praise and plaudits from critics and customers—including those who might have assumed incorrectly that Kia couldn’t possibly make a sports car that could run with the big dogs, never mind one that would blow them completely out of the water.

In addition to its performance prowess, sharp exterior styling, and crazy affordable price point, the 2018 Kia Stinger is earning accolades for refinement. Recently, Autotrader placed the Stinger on its list of “10 Best Car Interiors Under $50,000,” praising its clean, yet refined design and its almost surprising degree of spaciousness.

“What’s on the inside of a car is arguably as important as what’s on the outside, since drivers and passengers spend all their travel time here,” said Tara Trompeter, managing editor for Autotrader. “The Kia Stinger’s interior offers a great-looking cabin with upscale materials and intuitive controls. There’s also a surprising amount of rear-seat room for a sport sedan—and we’re impressed with the impressive quality of the door panels, which is something you’d typically find in a more expensive vehicle.”

Among the Stinger’s notable interior features are a 12-way bucket driver’s seat that sits low to make you feel more a part of the action, elevated dash with a wing-like design, floating display screen, and premium materials up to and including Nappa leather seating surfaces.

From top to bottom, from inside out, there’s nothing about the 2018 Kia Stinger that isn’t awe-inspiring. Because actions are better than words, the best way to find that out for yourself is to stop into Gossett Kia South and put yourself behind the wheel of a 2018 Kia Stinger.

Kia Tops J.D. Power List of Highest Quality Brands

2017 KIA Lineup

J.D. Power is known far and wide, especially in the auto industry, for ranking brands based on the quality of their products. Recently, when J.D. Power released its list of highest quality brands around the world, the number one spot wasn’t occupied by some prohibitively-priced luxo-marque. Instead, the list was headed by Kia. Beating out fellow Korean brands Hyundai and Genesis, Kia was crowned king of the industry when it comes to quality.

This isn’t the first time this has happened. In fact, 2017 is actually the second year in a row that the Korean auto brand, known for their cute and cheerful cars like the Kia Soul, has claimed the winning spot on the list. Another big surprise was Toyota’s fall; sitting in spot #13, the once-winning brand for 15 years straight has toppled from its throne.

The quality of vehicles in the study was determined by how many problems per year were reported by participants in the study. If you want to see what put Kia at the top of the list of highest quality brands from J.D. Power, head over to us here at Gossett Kia South to test them out in person.
