2019 Kia Forte Sales Red Hot in October

The all-new 2019 Kia Forte compact sedan didn’t merely help drive a year-over-year sales increase for Kia in October. Sales of the Forte totaled 9,537 vehicles last month, setting a new October record.

Kia overall saw sales of 45,102 vehicles for the month, which was also helped along by a 45 percent gain for the Rio, 11 percent gain for the Niro, and 10 percent gain for the Sportage.

“With the Forte’s best-ever October sales and three additional models realizing double-digit sales growth, we are confident that Kia’s sales momentum will remain positive well into the first quarter of 2019,” said Bill Peffer, vice president, sales operations, Kia Motors America. “This upward trajectory will be bolstered by the wide variety of new product introductions Kia has scheduled over the coming months that will continue driving traffic and attracting new customers to the Kia brand.”

Sales of the Kia Stinger remained strong in October, totaling 1,345 vehicles. Through the first 10 months of the year, the Kia Rio, Niro, Sportage, and Sorento have all seen significant gains over 2017, helping the brand maintain its standing as one of the most popular in America.

The Walken Closet: Strange, Memorable Kia Super Bowl Spot Scores Big

There is no one quite like Christopher Walken. The actor has been in some of the greatest films ever made like Annie Hall and Pulp Fiction. He also cut a rug in a popular music video for the Fatboy Slim. In other words, the man is an artistic genius.

If you didn’t catch it, Walken lent his image, voice, and star power to arguably one of the strangest spots during the Super Bowl. The commercial featured the Kia Optima—utilizing a play on Walken’s name—and scored as one of the most memorable moments in what amounted to, sadly, one of the most boring Super Bowl games ever.

In this Kia Super Bowl commercial, a man all dressed in beige looking for his socks, checks his walk-in closet. Inside, he discovers Christopher Walken. It’s a “Walken Closet.”

As Walken explains, there are apparently two types of socks, or people, or vehicles, in this world. Beige socks and the “ones that devour” beige socks. Clearly, the Kia Optima is the latter. Or as Walken puts it, “It’s like the world’s most exciting pair of socks.”

Kia European Sales Setting New Records

KiaEurope is eating up the Kia brand, making history and setting new sales records. Already a popular brand in its home market of South Korea and across Asia, Kia’s sales have also made major leaps forward here in the US. Now, the automaker is taking Europe by storm.

According to wardsauto.com, Kia European sales saw the best six month period ever recorded with a 7.6% year-over-year increase, reaching 200,038 units sold in the January-June period. The second quarter of 2015 also broke records, with sales topping 100,000 for the first time ever in a three month span.

“2015 to date has been a great period for Kia in Europe, with sales records tumbling and new highs reached,” said Michael Cole, Chief Operating Officer for Kia Motors Europe. “We’re delighted that Kia continues to grow, consistently and sustainably, and that an increasing number of motorists are drawn to our range of high quality, high value cars.”

While the Kia Sportage CUV and Cee’d family of compact vehicles led the momentum, Kia’s entire lineup continues to stand out from the competition worldwide thanks to its value-oriented models.
