This just in: J.D. Power and Associates just acknowledged the KIA Sportage and Soul as the highest ranking vehicles in their classes in the U.S. Initial Quality Study!
The unique and stylish 2016 Soul SUV took home the Initial Quality award in the Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle category, which includes popular small SUVs like the Toyota Prius v and the Ford C-Max. The Soul had just 72 problems reported during the first 90 days of ownership for every 100 vehicles sold, which was well below its segment’s average.
The 2016 KIA Sportage also topped its segment in the Initial Quality Study, making it the most initially pleasing of all the small SUVs on the market. With only 83 problems for every 100 Sportage SUVs sold, the vehicle beat out tough competition from the Buick Encore and Chevrolet Trax.
KIA’s entire line was notable in the Initial Quality Study: the brand ranked best in initial quality on average for the entire auto market. Following a steady decline in problems over the past 5 years, KIA cars and SUVs reported just 83 problems per 100 vehicles for the 2016 model year. You can’t go wrong with a new KIA!
The J.D Power U.S. Initial Quality Study has examined customer satisfaction within the first 90 days of vehicle ownership for 30 years. By analyzing reported parts per vehicle for every 100 vehicles sold, the study determines the cars that are most satisfying for drivers just after they leave the low. Multiple factors are considered, including technology, exterior and interior features and performance.
