Kia Sportage Is the 2017 Ideal Vehicle Award Winner for Compact Crossover SUVs

This just in: another win for the Kia Sportage. The all-new 2017 Kia Sportage has just earned the coveted title of the 2017 Ideal Vehicle Award winner in the compact crossover segment, courtesy of AutoPacific. This actually marks the second AutoPacific award that the 2017 Sportage has earned this year. Earlier in the summer, the Sportage also received a Vehicle Satisfaction Award.

2017 Ideal Vehicle Award

To determine ideal vehicles in each segment, AutoPacific surveyed more than 54,000 drivers who purchased a new 2016 or 2017 model. After 90 days of ownership, these drivers provide feedback on how they like their vehicles and what they would change. The survey covers 15 specific categories, which include interior storage, power and acceleration, technology, ride and handling, and safety features.

Orth Hedrick, vice president of product planning for Kia Motors America, stated, “We’re honored to hear that the Sportage has earned AutoPacific’s Ideal Vehicle Award and that we are succeeding in our mission to provide our customers with world-class products. The fourth-generation Sportage is the best iteration of our esteemed nameplate, now with a stellar combination of sharp design, clever utility and advanced safety features.”

2017 Kia Sorento Named Most Affordable SUV

The Kia Sorento has long been one of the most affordable SUVs in its class, and the 2017 model year is turning out to be no different. The mid-size model packs in plenty of space and a vast array of standard features while maintaining a competitive price. A powerful engine and extensive warranties make it a hard model to pass on.

The 2017 Kia Sorento boasts seating for up to seven people or as much as 73 cubic feet of cargo space. It’s also available with three engine choices.2017 Kia Sorento

The standard four-cylinder engine delivers a healthy 178 hp while the available V6 engine delivered a massive 252 lb-ft of torque. The new Sorento can even tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.

Few automakers can match Kia’s long-lasting warranty. The 2017 Sorento comes backed by a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty as well as a five-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.

The new 2017 Kia Sorento starts at an affordable MSRP of $25,600.* It further reinforces its family-oriented design with a spot on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick+ list.

We here at Gossett Kia South are pumped to see the new Sorento offering one of the best values in its class!

2015 Kia Sedona Takes the Crown In Cars.com Ultimate Minivan Contest

2015 Kia Sedona
2015 Kia Sedona – Cars.com’s Ultimate Minivan Contest Winner!

They may be called sports utility vehicles but, as Cars.com suggests, minivans are really the most utilitarian vehicles. “No other vehicle uses space quite so well,” they say, and it’s hard not to agree.

With that in mind, the automotive product research firm went about determining which minivan released in 2015 was the “Ultimate Minivan.” The candidates were the 2015 Chrysler Town & Country, 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan, 2015 Honda Odyssey, 2015 Kia Sedona, and 2015 Toyota Sienna.

A few editors from Cars.com, a producer for PBS’ MotorWeek, and a regular American family all tested the minivans. The tests included a long drive in and around the city of Milwaukee as well as a test that saw the judges driving each minivan on the exact same pavement back-to-back.

In light of the scoring criteria—which took into account the judges’ experience, safety scores, and fuel economy—the 2015 Kia Sedona emerged as the victor of the Cars.com Ultimate Minivan challenge.

Where the Sedona particularly stood out was performance and interior. In the Acceleration and Braking category, the Sedona scored significantly higher than its competitors. One judge noted a lack of engine and wind noise while another remarked that the “steering feels great.”

The best part of the Kia Sedona? We agree with Cars.com: “You will almost look cool driving this minivan.”

Kia Earns Its Best-Ever Ranking in J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

The improvement in quality for Kia vehicles over the last ten years has been notable, to say the least. Today, Kia ranks among the highest-quality vehicles available, and the nameplate’s score in this year’s J.D. Power Initial Quality Study proves it. Kia earned the second spot on this year’s list of automakers, and the top spot among mass-market brands, setting a new record for the company.

The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study surveys new vehicle owners regarding their first 90 days of ownership. The survey asks owners to evaluate a number of categories, including engine performance, driving experience, and transmission performance. Kia’s score jumped a full 20 points over its score from last year, launching the brand up four positions on the list.

“We believe the J.D. Power report leaves no doubt that Kia builds world-class vehicles, and the results are especially gratifying as the IQS study truly reflects the voice of our customers,” said Michael Sprague, Chief Operating Officer and EVP of Kia Motors America, in a statement.  “Kia’s rise is one of the industry’s greatest success stories and is driven by the hard work of thousands of team members around the world as well as our long-term strategy to concentrate on quality, strengthen the brand and elevate the ownership experience.”
