Kia overall saw sales of 45,102 vehicles for the month, which was also helped along by a 45 percent gain for the Rio, 11 percent gain for the Niro, and 10 percent gain for the Sportage.

“With the Forte’s best-ever October sales and three additional models realizing double-digit sales growth, we are confident that Kia’s sales momentum will remain positive well into the first quarter of 2019,” said Bill Peffer, vice president, sales operations, Kia Motors America. “This upward trajectory will be bolstered by the wide variety of new product introductions Kia has scheduled over the coming months that will continue driving traffic and attracting new customers to the Kia brand.”

Sales of the Kia Stinger remained strong in October, totaling 1,345 vehicles. Through the first 10 months of the year, the Kia Rio, Niro, Sportage, and Sorento have all seen significant gains over 2017, helping the brand maintain its standing as one of the most popular in America.

Car Emergency Kit Essentials

As unfortunate as it may be, a vehicle breakdown is a seeming inevitability of being a vehicle owner. While there’s not much you can do once you’re stranded on the side of the road but wait for help, you can take steps to make sure that your car emergency kit is stocked with essentials.

Car Emergency Kit

First-aid kit

The foundation of any good car emergency kit is the first-aid kit. Ideally, a first-aid kit should include items including hand sanitizer, bandages, antiseptic, cotton balls, gauze, aspirin, and tweezers, just to name a few. These items will come in handy if you should bust open your finger changing out a tire or come down with a particularly bad headache.

Important tools and equipment

If you’re putting together an emergency kit, there are a number of essential tools that you should have handy. According to the Department of Motor Vehicles, this might include a flashlight, jumper cable and/or jumper pack, road flares, jack, funnel, and an empty gas container. Having these handy can mean the difference between waiting for a friend to show up and getting yourself back on the road.

Got your emergency kit all put together but need a new ride to put it in? Come to Gossett Kia South and we’ll help you out.

Cooling Your Car Quickly: What’s the Best Way?

Many of us have gotten into a car on a hot summer day and been hit with astronomical temperatures. Sometimes, your vehicle gets so hot that it might even feel hard to breathe. What do you do? You could simply roll down the windows, but that might not work on a particularly sweltering day. You could flip on the A/C, but that seems to be nothing but hot air for the first minute or so.

According to Lifehacker, there are a series of steps to take that may sound contradictory. Just trust us, and it’ll work. First, you must roll completely down the windows. Then, crank up the A/C on the fresh air setting (it’s important that you’re not recirculating warm air). Turn the fan on full and be sure the thermostat is on its coldest setting.

Then, you can drive for a minute to force out the hot air. As the air starts to cool, switch on the recirculate button and roll up the windows. Then you can adjust the temperature and fan settings to get the cabin just right. If you want to decrease the temperature from the start, consider buying a sun shade.

It’s that simple! Or, if you want a vehicle that will allow you to remotely start your A/C before you even leave the office, stop by Gossett Kia South to see the technologically advanced vehicles we have on the lot.

How to Drive in Heavy Traffic

Summer is upon us here in Music City, USA — and that means folks from around the country are heading our way to experience everything our beautiful, fun-loving city has to offer. We love to welcome out-of-towners to our hometown, but all that extra traffic sure can make it difficult to get around. Here are a few tips to help you drive in heavy traffic and save yourself a bit of the headache.

Distance Yourself from Distractions

If you can connect your phone to your infotainment system or heads-up display, do so. Otherwise, leave your phone in your bag or on the seat screen-down so you’re not tempted to peek at those incoming texts. Pick a playlist or radio station to listen to in advance and keep the music at a somewhat low level.

Practice Defensive Driving

Defensive driving ostensibly means that you react to other drivers rather than force other drivers to react to you. This means no swerving in and out of lanes, cutting off other cars, or tailgating. Some tips for defensive driving include keep your eyes moving in search of changes to traffic or road conditions, go with the flow of traffic, always signal before turning or merging, and avoid vehicles that are driving erratically.

Plan to Avoid Heavy Traffic Times

Sometimes you will have no choice but to drive in heavy traffic, but you can and should do your best to avoid rush hour traffic. Planning ahead and heading out early doesn’t just reduce your stress, it can also potentially save you a great deal of time.

Traffic is an unfortunate part of the driving experience, but Kia’s comfortable interiors and cutting-edge infotainment technologies make it all a little bit more bearable. To experience the Kia difference for yourself, stop into Gossett Kia South.

Get a check-up.

  • Just as your car needs seasonal maintenance, you’ll want to make sure your bike is in tip-top shape. Things to look for include properly inflated tired, frame integrity, and chain condition.

Be aware.

  • Always assume that there is a vehicle in the vicinity of where you’re riding. You’ll want to ride in such a way that you’re always visible while making sure to watch for road hazards like puddles, loose gravel, and manholes.

Safety while driving

Take your time.

  • If there is a cyclist on the road in front of you, do not pass them unless you are absolutely certain that you can do so with a wide berth and clear line of visibility. Share the road, and be considerate
