Kia Tops J.D. Power List of Highest Quality Brands

2017 KIA Lineup

J.D. Power is known far and wide, especially in the auto industry, for ranking brands based on the quality of their products. Recently, when J.D. Power released its list of highest quality brands around the world, the number one spot wasn’t occupied by some prohibitively-priced luxo-marque. Instead, the list was headed by Kia. Beating out fellow Korean brands Hyundai and Genesis, Kia was crowned king of the industry when it comes to quality.

This isn’t the first time this has happened. In fact, 2017 is actually the second year in a row that the Korean auto brand, known for their cute and cheerful cars like the Kia Soul, has claimed the winning spot on the list. Another big surprise was Toyota’s fall; sitting in spot #13, the once-winning brand for 15 years straight has toppled from its throne.

The quality of vehicles in the study was determined by how many problems per year were reported by participants in the study. If you want to see what put Kia at the top of the list of highest quality brands from J.D. Power, head over to us here at Gossett Kia South to test them out in person.

Kia Soul is the Best Family Car

When you’re trying to buy a new car, it’s hard to know where to start. One great resource is to use trusted lists by sources like Car and Driver or Edmunds to find vehicles that are built to fit your needs. For a decade now, Edmunds has paired with Parents magazine to compose one such list: Best Family Car. And guess who earned an award for “Best Family Cars of 2017?” Why, none other than the Kia Soul, one of our favorite, versatile SUVs.

Kia Soul best family car

But what do Edmunds and Parents magazine use to determine the best family car? According to Parents Editor-in-Chief Liz Vaccariello, the best family car is one that caters to both parents and children in things like safety and comfort. The Kia Soul has both of these things covered, and much more.

The vehicle’s spacious cabin is made even more comfortable knowing that safety features like the standard Hill Start Assist and the available Lane Departure Warning are present to help drivers stay in control and to keep families protected. The Kia Soul is also well-equipped for in-cabin entertainment, an important amenity to have for family trips of any length. The 2017 Kia Soul features things like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Steering-Wheel-Mounted Controls which make the inevitable multitasking easier.

With a very affordable price tag and an engine that sips gas, the Kia Soul is also family-friendly from a financial standpoint. We’re happy to have our own inventory of Kia Soul SUVs on the lot at Gossett Kia South, so if you’re looking for the best car for your family, stop in and give the Kia Soul a try today.

Kia’s “A Good Vibe” Commercial Goes Viral

When you turn on this spring’s two-and-a-half minute ad spot for the Kia brand, the first thing you’ll hear is “I don’t wanna go.” It’s the catchphrase and title of a catchy, charming song by artists Kate Kim and Lee Radde. You’re practically guaranteed to get the tune stuck in your head, but you’re liable to sound conflicted. You’re singing “I don’t want to go,” yet all you do want to do is go and drive one of the recently redesigned Kia Rio and Kia Picanto that are advertised in the commercial.

The upbeat and memorable Kia commercial follows around Kate Kim and Lee Radde as they each climb into their own Kia vehicles. The all-new Kia Picanto—a super efficient, five-door hatchback—and the compact Kia Rio sedan both prove to serve as the perfect city cars for the musical artists. The “good vibe” association seems to promise that only the best journeys can be had in these updated Kia vehicles. Meanwhile, the fun, split-screen video and the perfect pop song have kept viewers wanting more, making this Kia commercial a viral hit.

If you do want to go in the Kia Rio or Kia Picanto, don’t worry—we have plenty on the lot at Gossett Kia, and we won’t mind if you sing “I Don’t Want to Go” by Kate Kim and Lee Radde while you shop.

2017 Kia Niro Review

2017 Kia Niro
Available in five trims, the 2017 Kia Niro offers a strong set of excellent premium features at a price few competitors can match.

The 2017 Niro is the latest model to arrive in Kia’s lineup and it’s performing wonderfully when it comes to reviews. The all-new hybrid SUV is the most affordable model on the market and earns up to an EPA-estimated 50 mpg combined*. Available in five trims, the 2017 Kia Niro offers a strong set of premium features at a price few competitors can match.

The all-new Kia Niro starts at $23,875 MSRP and comes equipped with seating for up to five passengers. A four-cylinder engine paired to an electric motor and paired with an automatic transmission produces a total of 139 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Drivers will also see a standard 7-inch touchscreen, keyless entry, a rearview camera, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and much more for that price.

The Niro easily undercuts many premium SUVs with a full offering of luxury features at an affordable price. Adding a premium sound system, navigation system, heated steering wheel, and leather-trimmed seats won’t put the Niro’s price over $31,000.

The new Kia Niro lands under the Sportage, making it the South Korean brand’s smallest SUV. Even so, it offers plenty of space and is comparable to the Honda HR-V.

We here at Gossett Kia South are pumped to see the 2017 Niro doing so well!

*EPA fuel economy estimates. Actual mileage will vary with options, driving conditions, driving habits, and your vehicle’s condition.

Kia's Autonomous Vehicles at the Chicago Auto Show

Kia’s Autonomous Vehicles Show Some Excitement

Cars that can drive themselves aren’t too far off in the future. In fact, many of us may get to experience this within our lifetimes. While getting to sit back and relax while the car does all the driving sounds great, it is pretty boring if you think about it.

Kia’s autonomous vehicles, which it showed off at the Chicago Auto Show, however, are anything but boring. They take autonomous technology and use it in ways you likely never imagined.

One of the most impressive is the Kia Sorento Ski Gondola concept. With this vehicle as your partner, you’ll be able to ski or snowboard anywhere you want. Instead of wheels, this vehicle uses tracks that will enable it to scale some steep slopes and take you to the top. The spacious interior has plenty of room for passengers wearing bulky ski clothes. Once you reach the top, hop out, and head down the slope, and the Ski Gondola will follow.

Another incredible vehicle is the Kia Niro Triathlon. With this vehicle as part of your team, it will make rigorous training so much easier. It has been customized to fit all the necessary equipment and can lead the way while you ride behind in a laser LED-illuminated bike path. When you reach the end, climb into the Niro and relax in the Human Touch zero gravity chair while the Niro drives you home.

Which concept would you like to try out? Here at Gossett Kia South, we would love to go skiing with the Sorento Ski Gondola.

2017 Kia Sorento Awarded One Of The Best Cars For The Money

Kia Soul and Sorento Earn Best Cars for the Money Awards

Buying a new car is one of the most expensive things you will buy in your life. So, getting your money’s worth is a big deal. Every year, U.S. News & World Report gives out its Best Cars for the Money awards, which helps consumers narrow down their options for a great new car.

This year, both the Kia Soul and Sorento took home prizes in their segments. These awards are based on a vehicle’s reliability, safety, and automotive experts’ opinions, as well as overall value.

“We’re honored that U.S. News named the Soul and Sorento winners within their respective categories for 2017,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning KMA. “The entire Kia model line – including our iconic urban passenger vehicle and three-row SUV – offers a winning blend of sophisticated design and user-friendly technology with a consistent emphasis on value.”

Kia Cadenza Named 2017 Large Sedan of the Year by Hispanic Motor Press Association

2017 Kia Cadenza

The 2017 Kia Cadenza has been named the Large Sedan of the Year by the Hispanic Motor Press Association, which holds annual awards for vehicles in each segment. The judges evaluate each vehicle for safety, quality, value, performance, design, style, environmental impact, and technology based on the needs and tastes of the Latino population.

The Cadenza, which starts its second generation with the 2017 model year, “injects a much-needed shot of excitement to the large car segment,” says Michael Sprague, chief operating officer of EVP, KMA. The Cadenza’s striking styling and refined interior set it apart from the rest of the crowded sedan segment and makes huge improvements over other sedans in terms of the cabin, technology, powertrain, and body structure. Prague says Kia is “honored to be named among the best choices for Latino families.”

The Hispanic Motor Press Association considers over 100 vehicles each year and selects three vehicles for each category before narrowing it down to each category’s winner. The judges take the cars on test drives as well as look at the affordability and mass market availability of each vehicle and how it relates to the average Latino family. This is the seventh year of the Hispanic Motor Press Awards.

Reasons to Buy a Kia

If you’re in the market for a new car, you’re probably weighing your options about which car brand you should buy. We hope that brand is Kia, and we’ve put together some reasons why.

Value is the biggest reason you should buy a Kia. Kia vehicles are some of the least expensive on the market and still offer tons of standard and optional technology. Despite their low price, Kias are high-quality and packed with amenities.

Kia also offers a fantastic warranty of 10 years or 100,000 miles for the powertrain as well as 5 years or 60,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage, 5 years of roadside assistance, and more. Every Kia buyer gets access to these awesome benefits.

Another great thing about Kia vehicles is their hybrids. As one of the first brands to hop on the hybrid bandwagon, Kia’s Optima hybrid has already found its footing in the power department with a turbocharged engine.

Unique design is another thing Kia brings to the table. The boxy Kia Soul is one of the most popular cars in America and is one of the biggest cars on the EV market thanks in large part to its interesting styling.
