No matter what time of year it is, there are always plenty of things to do in Memphis, but the cusp of summer is a particularly nice time to explore Music City, USA. Memorial Day is considered the unofficial start of the summer season, and so the long weekend is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy goings-on around the city.
Here are just a couple suggestions for fun activities in and around Memphis this Memorial Day Weekend:
This year’s 901 Fest celebrates all things Memphis with good food, live music, and much more. This year’s performers include Southern Avenue, 8Ball and MJG, Mighty Soul Brass Band, and IHeartMemphis. Other entertainment includes an air show over the Mississippi River, Knockerball and Zorb ball, a Creative Arts Tent, the inaugural 901Fest Cornhole Tournament, and show-closing fireworks.
If you’re looking to work up a sweat over the weekend, the Great American River Run Half Marathon & 5K takes place on May 26, carrying walkers, joggers, and runners through the street of downtown Memphis. Once the race is over, you’ll want to stick around for a post-race party that features food, drinks, and live music.
